Break time from all that play

This is our beloved Yeguza, who was allegedly an FCI registered Siberian import.

She came to us in April of 2001 after a harrowing flight, where the airline kept telling me they couldn't find her, as she was not on her expected flight.  When she finally arrived three hours later, I left her in her airline crate, loaded her in the van and brought her home.  After what had to be a terrifying day, she hopped out of her crate, then turned back and pulled out her oversized bone with an attitude of "Hi, I'm here, I'm unpacked....what's next?"

That same calm temperament stayed with her through the years.  She did get more protective of us, but was usually calm about the other dogs here.  She and Bors had to check out every new dog as well as every new rescue in order to determine their suitability for staying with us and also to emphasize the newcomer's rank in the pack order - way at the bottom :-)

She was an absolutely awesome mom to her puppies and overall, we're tremendously pleased at the way her two litters turned out. She taught us so very much about this breed as well as about how to raise puppies in the fashion she thought proper.  Her puppy training methods were really interesting and extremely educational.

We lost our Yeguza the day after Thanksgiving to an extremely aggressive carcinoma that had destroyed her lungs and was working on her heart. She was fine Thanksgiving morning, running with Bors and their almost three year old puppies and that night she started labored breathing and had blood on her tongue. Then came a hideous cough and it was obvious that she was not getting enough air.  I had no idea that could happen so suddenly and silently and with absolutely no warning.

I miss her tremendously.

BEAU

Beau, who was one of the absolute favorites here in rescue, died this past month from a botched surgery to remove socks from his intestines..........don't know why the knothead was eating socks, but his death was so unnecessary..........he had gone to his new home last year and appeared to be doing well.
